Por fín me he terminado este libro, amplio en su extensión, escrito por el crítico Simon Reynolds. Le tenía ganas por la época que trata, tanto por el tipo de música que se desarrolló como por ser una etapa que casi coincide con mi iniciación en la música popular (primeros ochenta). Así pues lo he leído con gran interés. Uno piensa de qué manera viviría el propio autor dicha etapa, ya que me parece que él no vivió de primera mano los hechos que relata (como sí sucede en el caso de Blancas Bicicletas de Joe Boyd que me estoy leyendo ahora). En cualquier caso es agradable y de fácil acceso, descubriendo conexiones que nunca habría sospechado entre escenas y grupos (por ejemplo como trata el caso de Echo & the Bunymen) que aun no habiendo sido protagonista Reynolds sí es fruto de una ardua investigación y de su punto de vista con orígen británico. Tampoco sobra nada y añadiría poco: quizá se echa en falta la repercusión del post-punk en otros países como Australia, Islandia o España. Por lo demás es un libro muy recomendables máxime si tenemos en cuenta la escasez de literatura respecto al post-punk.
